Company

The headquarter of the company is located on the hill of Montecarlo facing towards Pescia. It is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees treated with patience and dedication by locals.

In addition to its own family brand, Casata Davini produces and sells products for other important wineries from Tuscany and the rest of Italy and also beer kegs. Therefore, a vast sample of excellent wines from different category levels is been offered while always maintaining an excellent value for money. The company’s staff and the family are at disposal to illustrate the range of products. A particular room has been dedicated specifically for tasting and viewing the entire wine catalog at the headquarter. The combination between tradition and contemporary search for novelty are the guidelines that distinguish the wines produced and marketed by the company: there is a very strong bond between local wines of Montecarlo (white and red DOC) to the tradition of Tuscan wines (Chianti, Bolgheri, Morellino di Scansano, Vermentino, Vernaccia etc) continuing towards what the Italian territory can offer best with its white wines from Friuli and Trentino as well as the sparkling wine from Veneto. A wide range of excellent products from the hills of Lucca can only be the corollary to a series of wines that embrace the entire Italian territory.

Casata Davini is a family-run winery born in September 2008.
The name "Casata" was chosen in the literal sense of the term as the Davini brothers, Luigi and Mario, whom always have been in the wine business, together with Cristina Davini, Mario's daughter, combined their passion for wine to create a line that celebrates the ancestor Mario Davini. Mario Davini was a painter, sculptor, xylographer, multifaceted artist of the twentieth century from Lucca. After in-depth studies and research on the artist's paintings and woodcuts, the wine labels of the Casata Davini brand were born.
Mario Davini was the brother of Dino Davini (doctor) and he had three children Leda, Lina and Ettore. Ettore, doctor of chemistry, married Giovanna Bianchini, Severo Bianchini’s daughter. He was the chief physician at the Hospital of Lucca and also the doctor of the composer Giacomo Puccini. Maria Luisa, Grazia and Severo were born of their union. The current generation Davini descends from Severo, he married Liliana Bedini, and, in fact, from their marriage were born Giovanna, Mario and Luigi.

The Artist

Mario Davini was born in Lucca on 24 January 1876 by Pietro Davini, a famous sculptor from Lucca and from Giulia Parenti. He spent his life in the town residence of Via S. Andrea where he had his own studio, and the family villa of Gattaiola. Mario moved the first artistic steps right under the guidance of his father and continued his education by attending the R.Istituto di Belle Arti di Lucca where he obtained the license with praise in 1900, presenting a work titled "Pace claustrale" Next year for the exhibition of Fine Arts in Munich. He continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and completed his education at Edoardo Gelli's studio. It is from the early 900's that the young author came to light in many exhibitions not only in Italy (Milan, Genoa, Florence ...) but also abroad (Munich and Petersburg). In September 1908, the artist left for New York where he stayed for 16 months, producing many works with remarkable success. In the following years he saw artistic maturity: he opened his own staff in the studio of Via S. Andrea, with sacred paintings, portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, began his own art critic and publicist, and "insigne xilograph" as Defined in 1927 by Plinio Nomellini. The artist's ongoing research activity received his consecration in the exhibition at the Universe Hotel from June 1 to June 15, 1940. Following this Davini retired in the following years in a strict isolation devoting himself to pictorial and literary activity. He died in his villa in Gattaiola on October 23, 1951.
